S2S - Scattered 2 Serve

Picture
Welcome to S2S, Scattered 2 Serve, Luther Crest's Volunteer Club!
Whether you are an individual looking for opportunities to share your gifts and serve others a few hours each week as the hands and feet of Christ, OR if you are a church group that can grow together through a Group Volunteer Day - Luther Crest's Scattered 2 Serve Volunteer Club has several areas of interest. No matter what age or where you are at in life, we believe that everyone has a gift to share!  Join S2S today!

The Parable of the Mustard Seed
He presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that THE BIRDS OF THE AIR come and NEST IN ITS BRANCHES."  Matthew 13:31-32

A mustard seed, although it is small, can grow to be quite large and when scattered, can be found over a very large area.  As Christians, we are sent out, scattered to share the Good News of Christ and called to be disciples. So too, Luther Crest volunteers are scattered to serve others, both at Luther Crest and in congregations.  Although we may seem small individually, many volunteers working together can become something monumental, making a huge difference, like a tiny seed becoming a tree.

Luther Crest is excited and proud to have a strong Volunteer Program built on the philosophy of Christian hospitality and grounded in the idea that many volunteers can make a huge difference and build great things.

Why volunteer?  For many - volunteering at camp is among the most rewarding experiences available. We don't see volunteering as a one-way street. You share your time and know-how but you won't walk away empty handed. You'll get new skills and experience and you'll have a really good time along the way!  We have a fantastic team of volunteers at Luther Crest, all of whom make a valuable contribution to our work here. Working with hospitality, landscaping/gardening, education and/or grounds/maintenance, volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds.  Many have been with us for many years.

Benefits...  The following are just a few of the things you will gain when you join S2S:
  • 1. Personal satisfaction through serving others;
  • 2. Contributing to the great ministry of Luther Crest;
  • 3. Building relationships with other S2S Volunteers; and
  • 4. Celebrating the joy of giving at our Volunteer Appreciation Days.

Volunteers operate within the structure of Luther Crest under strict health and safety requirements which require training and ongoing supervision by qualified staff.  If you think you have what it takes to be part of the S2S Team and would like to know more, please contact Jody Johnson at 320-846-2431 or jodyj@luthercrest.org.

If you would like to start the process, please note these items when you contact us:

1.  An outline of how many days per week, and for how long you are able to commit; and
2.  A background check will be done for all volunteers.

Here are some brief descriptions about our volunteer positions.
To begin the volunteer process, 1. click on your interests below, and
2. fill out the Volunteer Form.

Office

We often need help with mailings, stuffing envelopes, putting on stamps, folding, etc.  Depending on your comfort level, we sometimes need help entering computer data.  If you are interested in volunteering a day a week to help out in the office, please let us know today.

Kitchen/Baking

Love to bake?  Maybe you would be able to help by cooking meals on one of our busy retreat weekends?  Or helping out in the kitchen for a week in the summer?  We can always use help during the Christmas Bake Sale every year!!!

Grounds/Maintenance

Interested in helping keep Luther Crest grounds look net and tidy?  Love to mow the lawn?  Perhaps you have special woodworking talent?  Or maybe you love painting or trail maintenance?  Please consider sharing your time at Luther Crest.

Guest Hospitality/ Cleaning

There are many weeks and weekends when we could use help cleaning and getting ready for the the next group.  Or perhaps you like hanging out with the weekend groups making sure they have everything they need.  This volunteer option would be for you.

Gardening

Have that special Green Thumb? Luther Crest has several flower gardens that need weekly tending.   Or perhaps you are interested in helping with our Organic Garden or Watershed Gardens or Memorial Garden?  Volunteer to share your passion for gardening today!
